Highrock began in 1999 around a dinner table. A small group of believers shared a dream of a church where people of all backgrounds, ages, and ethnicities could encounter Jesus. In time, this small group became a congregation, outgrowing several spaces in Cambridge and Somerville. In the Spring of 2006, Highrock set down roots in Arlington. Since then, Highrock has planted churches in nine more locations across eastern Massachusetts. We're excited about Jesus and what Jesus is doing through the lives of ordinary people. We invite you to invest: take the time to get to know us and join in what God is doing at Highrock!
In Fall 2017, Matt and Megan Webel and their three boys moved back to New England to help start a new church plant from Highrock North Shore. After months of prayer, conversation, and walking in towns across Greater Boston, we believe God is doing something in Haverhill and is inviting Highrock to be a part of it.
We’re still a baby church. We are brainstorming things to do, and are getting to know one another other. We’re the new group in town: still discovering coffee shops in the city and meeting local-leaders and influencers.
We will walk one day...but right now we’re still learning how to crawl.
And you know what? It’s really, really exciting. Like a child, we crawl around the corner and discover something new about Haverhill every day. We are meeting people who care about the city, learning about local businesses, and stumbling upon the amazing things God is already doing.
God is bigger than our church. God has been moving in Haverhill long before we arrived - and will be moving long after we’re gone. But now, God is inviting us to be a part of growing his Kingdom in Haverhill as it is in heaven. It’s God’s story, and we're a part of it.
It’s been a beautiful, gutsy, and sacred adventure thus far.
And maybe God is prompting you to join us.
The vision of every Highrock church is:
To see God transforming every neighborhood and institution in Greater Boston through locally-focused congregations who live and love in such a compelling and Christ-like way that our neighbors are challenged to seriously consider the claims of Christ, be reconciled to God, engage in Christian community, and serve others in the unique ways God designed them to, so that Boston becomes a “city on a hill” that will be a blessing to the world.
Yes, it's a bit long. And yes, it's a run-on sentence. But that one statement captures the heart of our church and what we believe God is calling us to do together.
We believe this happens when we cultivate a loving Christian community through which sinners are transformed individually and collectively into the Body of Christ by connecting with God Personally, with God's People, and with God's Purposes.
While all Highrock churches share the same five values, we at Highrock Haverhill wanted to include one more; one that you are certain to experience at each Highrock, even if the others don't codify it quite like we do. Simply put, that's the spirit of Courage.
The combination of an upwardly directed arrow, a house, and a starburst, our logo is representative of the three core aspects of what we are all about: Transformation through connecting to God personally, connecting to God's people, and connecting to God's purposes.
